Thought Field Therapy is growing in reputation for being highly effective for most emotional trauma, phobias, addictions and mental health issues. In October 2001 Dr. Shkelzen Syla, Chief of Staff with authority over all medical decisions in Kosova, officially adopted TFT as the treatment of choice for those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the region. This followed a 100% successful trial. See a TV program where a client (not Colin's :-D) tells us how TFT has helped to change his life - click HEREWhere did Thought Field Therapy come from?
The concept and theory of the “thought field”, the framework in which the causative agents of psychological disturbance exist, was proposed by Dr. Callahan to explain the observations he was making when applying the first successful treatment procedure. This is a rapid and easily duplicated cure for most phobias. As a clinical psychologist he had been treating a patient using conventional psychotherapeutic methods for eighteen months. She was called Mary and her fear of water was so great she had to stay in an inner room of her home whenever it rained and could only have a bath in a few centimetres of water. Cognitive and behavioural approaches had succeeded in getting Mary to cope with her phobia to a limited extent so she could at just approach open water but not without intense fear. Mary described this fear as being situated in her stomach.
“I was totally unprepared for what happened. As I tapped under her eye, Mary said, “It’s gone, my fear of water, it’s gone! I don’t have those awful feelings in my stomach any more.” I suggested that we go down to the swimming pool adjacent to my office to see if this was really true. I expected her to resist as usual, but in fact had to hurry to keep up with her. For the first time in her life, she bent down, put her head close to the water and began splashing it on her face.” Since that first treatment, using what is now popularly called a 'tapping technique', the empirical evidence obtained from many thousands of successful TFT treatments has established the resolution of most psychological problems and been proven effective on up to 80% of individuals (at the Algorithm level of TFT treatment).
Through the use of Applied Kinesiology principles and empirical testing, Dr. Callahan was able to produce specific acupuncture point lists, called algorithms, to overcome many emotional & psychological problems. Algorithms now form the foundation of TFT practice, and most TFT practitioners use these very effectively to help clients using set algorithms.
